NEW DELHI: Asian giant China is planning to launch its first Tianzhou-1 cargo resupply spacecraft through a Long March-7 Y2 carrier rocket in April, in what will be a crucial test of key technologies needed for the country’s future space station, Xinhua reported on Monday.
The 13-tonne Tianzhou-1 will be launched by a new Long March 7 rocket from Wenchang in April, and dock soon after with the orbiting Tiangong-2 space lab 390 kilometres above the Earth, according to the China Manned Space Agency(CMSA) report.
亚洲巨头中国计划今年4月，通过长征7 Y2运载火箭，发射首艘天舟1号货运补给飞船。
据新华社报道，这次发射，将是对该国未来太空站所需关键技术的重要试验。
根据中国载人航天局的报告，13吨重的天舟1号，将于4月由新型长征7号火箭发射，随后与地球上空390公里轨道在轨运行的天宫2号太空实验室对接。
“Tianzhou-1, independently developed by China, can remain in space on its own for as long as three months,” CMSA said.
The main objective of the Tianzhou-1 mission is to test and verify on-orbit transfer of liquid propellant to Tiangong-2, which late last year hosted two astronauts for China’s longest human spaceflight mission so far.
中国载人航天局称，“中国自主研发的天舟1号，可以独自在太空运行最长3个月。”
天舟1号的主要目标是，试验并证实向天宫2号在轨输送液体推进剂的可靠性。去年底，天宫2号迎来了执行中国迄今为止最长时间载人飞行任务的两名宇航员。
If successful, the spacecraft will be another major step towards China establishing a permanent human presence in space, with the Chinese Space Station(CSS) planned to be completed by 2022.
如果获得成功，天舟1号，将是中国朝建立永久太空站迈出的又一重大一步。中国计划在2022年之前完成太空站的建设。
It is capable of docking with the Tiangong-2 space lab and refueling it in addition to carrying out experiments and tests.
The Long March-7 Y2 carrier rocket is scheduled to arrive at the launch center in March, the CMSA added.
除了进行试验外，天舟1号还能与天宫2号对接，并向其加注燃料。
