At 8pm Beijing time on 25 June this year the tropical darkness over China’s Hainan province was temporarily banished by a blinding orange light. Accompanied by the thunderous roar of engines, a 53m-tall rocket pushed itself into the sky.

过去几年越来越多的中国火箭得以升空，但是这座火箭出于三个原因而具有重大意义。首先，这是新的长征七号火箭的首次发射，这款火箭的设计目的是为了帮助中国发射太空站模块。第二，这是首次从新建的海南文昌发射场发射，将成为中国太空野心的新焦点。第三，这也是游客首次被鼓励去现场观看发射的中国火箭发射。

Hopefully a fear of Chinese-dominated space will spur governments to better fund NASA back to its 1960's levels.

So? In the 19th C America stole British technology (it was even seen as a national security issue to permit this stealing), hell, it was notorious for it, Japan stole German technology. It's normal at a certain stage of development.

Typically Graun: praising PR China's space program while not even mentioning India's. On the other hand when CO2 emissions are the topic both are loudly equaled although India's output is 1/5 of its autocratic neighbor.

The main problem with US politicians is they think that they are better and ahead of others. They will do anything if they feel that imagination of superiority is being threatened and that include hypocrisy and double standards. In current times US always find itself the loner in this outdated imagination of superiority. Instead of achieving the goals to suppress others from moving forward US is killing its own high tech industries and making China moving forward much faster than what the US achieved earlier. Look at the supercomputer, mobile apps and high tech consumer products, just to name a few.

Let's hope that the Chinese, with all the advances they are now making, will stumble upon the secrets to lasting world peace. A very intelligent people, dedicated, focused, are the very one's who may be capable of achieving what no other people's in history have achieved, treating the cause of war and vanquishing it for all time. Inner space exploration is just as important as outer space exploration, for the survival of all mankind. I'm putting my money and faith in the Chinese people. Wars are so dinosauric, don't you think? Without wars, we could all be astronauts, well, just about.

Well, the US has sent probes to all the planets in the solar system, sends a probe to Mars every couple of years when the orbits align, has space observatories that have found thousands of extrasolar planets, and has private operators launching reusable boosters, something nobody else is doing. I welcome Chinese advancements, but we aren't in the dustbin yet.

美国向太阳系的所有行星都送去探测器了，每隔几年在轨道匹配的情况下就会送探测器去火星，建立了空间望远镜并发现了大量的系外行星，还有私人企业发射可回收的火箭，这是其他国家做不到的。我欢迎中国取得的进步，但是我们也没有那么差。

What may be equally untrue is that the Chinese are not generating any technology of their own. What is interesting is who are deciding what's stolen and what's not and how they are decided.

同样不真实的是人们认为中国在技术上没有任何创新。
