China to deploy 1 lakh marines at ports in Gwadar and Djibouti

BEIJING: China is set to increase the number of its marine corps from 20,000 to one lakh as part of plans to deploy them overseas for the first time, including at the strategic Gwadar port in Pakistan and military logistics base in Djibouti in the Indian Ocean.
作为把海军陆战队首次部署到海外计划的一部分，北京准备把海军陆战队人员从2万扩充到10万。
部署地点包括巴基斯坦的瓜达尔港，和吉布提（三泰虎注：东非一共和国及其首都）的军队后勤基地。
The expansion is planned to protect China’s maritime lifelines and its growing interests overseas, Hong-Kong based South China Morning Post reported.
Some members would be stationed at ports China operates in Djibouti and Gwadar in southwest Pakistan, Chinese military insiders and experts were quoted as saying.
据南华早报报道，扩充人员是为了保护中国的海上生命线和不断增加的海上利益。

So CPEC is just a farce to Pakistanis by pak govt and army & the chinese. Gwadar was never meant for economy but developed for military purposes. I felt so when I saw gen jaheel sharif doing the inauguration instead of nawaz sharif (he was a by stander)
