China, Russia navies to hold drills in South China Sea: Beijing

中国，俄罗斯海军将在南海举行演习

BEIJING: China and Russia will hold “routine” naval exercises in the South China Sea in September, China said on Thursday, adding that the drills were aimed at strengthening their cooperation and were not aimed at any other country.

The exercises come at a time of heightened tension in the contested waters after an arbitration court in the Hague ruled this month that China did not have historic rights to the South China Sea and criticised its environmental destruction there.

中国周四表示，中国和俄罗斯将在南海举行“例行”海军演习，同时指出演习旨在加强合作，并不针对任何国家。

此次演习适逢国际仲裁庭本月做出裁决而引起局势紧张，裁决称中国对南海并不拥有历史权利，并批评其造成的环境破坏。
