So there cannot be a comparison, but yes, we need more investment and we are finding out resources for that,” Prabhu said while replying to a discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the railway budget.

Two most common diseases of Indian Railway is populism and inertia. Each political party wants to get political mileage through giving unnecessary employment, giving passenger subsidy etc. As regards technological up-gradation there is no motivation. Why not passenger fare can be rationalized or WAP-7 locomotives can be mademore powerful so that they can run at a speed more than 200kmph?

Chinese corruption is very efficient compared to Indian corruption. In China, you pay only once and, after the payment you are assured that there will be no hindrance. Whereas, in India you have to pay multiple agencies, and inspite of the payment you are still not sure if the project will go through.

Another reminder, if it was needed, of how far we have fallen behind China. A mere 35 years ago, Indian Railways was ahead of China. In fact, Chinese officials have toured India several times and learnt a lot abt Banking, Stock Markets and Railways from India. Unfortunately, India does not seem to be learning from China !

It takes 6-7 hrs from delhi-jaipur 350 k.m’s isn’t it a shame.As there are private and govt. buses, similarly there it can be same for trains. Till when we would live in the dark ages.
